Family Connect is an online community for parents and carers, led by a paediatric occupational therapist with 27 years’ experience.
We bring together non-judgemental support, practical information and strategies on topics that matter to families of children with disability and developmental delay. Our aim is to help you better understand your child, build confidence and take away ideas and strategies you can use in everyday life.
What is Family Connect?
Family Connect offers online workshops and learning opportunities designed to support parents and carers with practical, relevant information about child development, participation and wellbeing.
Sessions are led by an experienced paediatric occupational therapist and may also feature guest speakers with expertise across a range of areas.
We believe families benefit not only from professional knowledge, but also from hearing the experiences, ideas and perspectives of other parents and carers.
Topics may include
Family Connect covers many topics relevant to children and families, including:
- Emotional regulation
- Sensory processing
- Sleep
- Behaviour
- School readiness
- Executive functioning
- Communication
- Anxiety and resilience
- Everyday living skills
- Supporting neurodivergent children
- Accessing the community
Topics are selected to reflect the questions and challenges families commonly experience.
What you can expect
Our sessions are practical, supportive and easy to understand. We focus on helping you:
- better understand your child’s needs
- learn practical strategies you can try at home
- hear from experienced professionals
- ask questions in a supportive environment
- connect with other parents and carers
- build your confidence in supporting your child
We also support children who have not yet received a formal diagnosis but are experiencing developmental concerns.
Who is Family Connect for?
Family Connect is for parents and carers who want practical information and support to better understand and respond to their child’s needs.
You do not need to be an existing client of our service to join Family Connect.

From time to time, we invite guest speakers with expertise in areas relevant to children and families.
